Covid Assessments Supplied In NY to Bermuda Travellers

Travelers flying to Bermuda will be offered a Covid-19 screening service in New York City, BTA and OpenClear announced today.

A spokesman said: “The Bermuda Tourism Board [BTA] and OpenClear today announced a collaboration to provide Bermuda travelers with convenient access to an expedited Covid-19 screening service in accordance with the Bermuda Government’s health protocols.

“From October 27th, OpenClear’s Covid-19 screening service will be available every Tuesday and Thursday [9 am–3 pm, by appointment only] in Midtown, New York City.

The service is designed to help Bermuda visitors from the New York City area as well as returning Bermuda residents obtain a Covid-19 test result for the country’s travel authorization process prior to travel. Since Bermuda safely and responsibly reopened its tourism industry on July 1, a third of the island’s recreational visitors have come from New York. “

“OpenClear has a strong track record of delivering test results on time and that is exactly what Bermuda visitors need to book their trip to the island with confidence,” said Glenn Jones, interim CEO of BTA.

“Bermuda’s stringent protocols have kept visitors and residents safe, and now New York City consumers who are ready to travel safely again have easier access to our outdoor island life. This collaboration with OpenClear is another way to set Bermuda’s safety record apart from other goals. “

Isaak N Yakubov, co-founder and CEO of LEAA Health, is conducting an OpenClear Covid-19 test with Glenn Jones from the BTA earlier this month

The BTA said, “OpenClear’s Covid-19 screening service program, led by LEAA Health, involves the collection of nasopharyngeal swabs by a healthcare worker for the RT-PCR laboratory-based assay. This emergency-approved collection method and test from the US Food and Drug Administration are accepted by the Bermuda Department of Health.

“The island’s record as a safe destination includes an upgrade to Level 2 on the Centers for Disease Control’s travel advisory list. Bermuda is one of only four countries to have received this rating. Bermuda also received the Safe Travels Stamp from the World Travel & Tourism Council.

“By working with the BTA, OpenClear’s Covid-19 screening service in Midtown, New York City is only available to passengers flying into Bermuda. To book an appointment, visitors and residents must provide proof of travel to the island within seven days [flight number, flight date].

“Travelers must then apply for a Bermuda travel authorization one to three days before departure and provide evidence of a negative COVID-19-PCR test, which was carried out at least seven days * before departure. [*For example, a pre-departure Covid-19 PCR test taken on October 1, will be valid for travel until October 8.]

“OpenClear offers three turnaround times for reporting results for COVID-19 screening [12–24-hour turnaround, 24–48-hour turnaround, 48–72-hour turnaround], with prices starting at $ 199.

“OpenClear is a testing service provider outside the network and does not accept insurance for this Covid-19 screening service. Travelers to Bermuda can receive COVID-19 testing services from OpenClear or an authorized healthcare provider.
