We look forward to getting back on the streets (or to heaven) as soon as it’s safe again, but we also want to save money doing it.

With that in mind, now is a good time to earn valuable points and miles that you can use later on for travel. Using credit card points or airline miles can help you travel for little or no cost. Stocking up on these currencies now can pay off later when it is finally time to book this trip.

And you don’t have to fly to earn airline miles. When unnecessary travel is stopped, there are several strategies you can use to keep earning miles.

We’ve already looked at the Delta SkyMiles shopping portal, where you can earn Delta SkyMiles by shopping online at some of your favorite retailers. Today we will dive into the Delta SkyMiles Dining Program.

Combined, these are all useful strategies you can use to earn and redeem Delta SkyMiles.

What is the Delta SkyMiles Dining Program?

The Delta SkyMiles Dining Program is a free tool from Delta Air Lines. It is similar to the above shopping program in that you can earn miles by using it to buy things you would otherwise have bought – restaurant meals, in this case when you dine out or order from partner restaurants and pay with a credit card linked to your SkyMiles Dining.

How to Participate in the Delta SkyMiles Dining Program

To sign up for the Delta SkyMiles Dining Program, create a free account with your SkyMiles number and a credit card. You can also use a debit card, but you can maximize your rewards by using a credit card that allows you to collect bonus points while you eat, such as: B. the American Express® Gold Card. This is how you earn Credit Card Reward Points as well as Delta SkyMiles.

How to earn miles with the Delta SkyMiles Dining Program

After registering, you will receive SkyMiles every time you dine out or order take-away / delivery direct from suitable restaurants. Pay only with the credit card that you linked to your account when you signed up. Otherwise, you will not receive SkyMiles. Since the SkyMiles Dining program only works with orders placed directly in or from restaurants, you will not earn miles when using third-party services such as DoorDash or Seamless.

Pro tip

Link your account to a credit card that you can use to collect bonus points while you eat so that you can collect even more valuable credit card reward points.

The full list of participating restaurants can be found on the Delta SkyMiles Dining website. Enter your city and the cuisine you are looking for to narrow your search.

Depending on the type of membership you choose, you will receive a set amount of SkyMiles for your purchases. If you choose not to receive communications emails from SkyMiles Dining, receive 1 SkyMile for every US dollar spent. If you choose to receive SkyMiles Dining emails, you will receive 3 SkyMiles for every US $ 1. When you’re a VIP member, earn 5 SkyMiles for every $ 1. VIP members are those who have chosen to receive email and have completed 11 qualified transitions in a calendar year. You will start earning VIP level from the 12th Qualifying Transaction.

For a limited time, new members can also earn additional bonus points. You can earn 1,000 SkyMiles by spending $ 30 or more at participating restaurants. Even better, if you are a Medallion Elite member of Delta’s frequent flyer program, you can earn an additional 500 bonus miles for a total of 1,500 SkyMiles.

In addition, during the first 30 days of their membership in the program, all new members can earn 500 additional bonus miles for each of their subsequent four $ 30 purchases.

You must complete an online review of each restaurant within 30 days of your meal in order to receive the bonus points. The bonus points for new members are in addition to the above mentioned earnings quotas.

Best tickets for the Delta SkyMiles Dining Program

As mentioned earlier, we recommend using a credit card that you can use to collect bonus points when you buy restaurants. This is a practice known as “double dipping” because you earn both Credit Card Reward Points and Delta SkyMiles in the same transaction.

Aside from the Amex Gold Card, the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Sapphire Preferred Card are cards that we would recommend linking to your account. Earn 3x or 2x Ultimate Rewards points per dollar for purchases in restaurants. If you don’t eat out that often either, it’s easy to see that those bonus points add up quickly.

The Citi Prestige is another great credit card for the Delta SkyMiles Dining program as it earns 5x Citi ThankYou points per dollar for purchases at restaurants.

Delta also co-branded American Express credit cards, but there is no particular benefit in using one of these cards for the dining program. For example, the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express card collects 2x miles per dollar when you eat. While this is still an increased income rate, there are better food rewards cards out there.
