Don’t ban interstate journey, please

SINCE the MCO (Recovery Movement Control Order), my husband and I have made every effort to book short stays in local hotels. We stayed in Haven (Ipoh), PPT Hotel (Muar), Andaman (Langkawi) and Hotel Stripes and Mandarin (Kuala Lumpur).

We have also booked hotel stays in Ipoh for the end of October. All of these were special hotel packages to attract guests.

All of the hotels gave us five-star treatment, although some of them were not five-star. We found that the operators were so grateful that we had come to their hotels. Some of the staff told us they needed to cut wages, others were on unpaid leave during the MCO and Conditional MCO.

Please do not prohibit interstate travel or penalize us when we travel from Selangor to other states. Many people in the hospitality industry have had no income in the last few months since the MCO was introduced. Hear our plea, hear our scream, have mercy.

By the way, all the hotels we stayed in strictly adhered to the SOP!
