England publicizes new quarantine exemptions for “high-value” enterprise vacationers.
England announced new quarantine exemptions for certain high-quality business travelers, including performing artists, journalists and certain others, that will not require them to self-isolate upon arrival in the country.
Currently, all tourists arriving in England are required to self-isolate for 14 days unless they are from the country that is on the Safe Travel List on the UK government website.
On Twitter, Grant Shapps, the transport secretary said: “Starting December 5th at 4am, high quality business travelers will no longer need to self-isolate when returning to England from a country that is NOT in a travel corridor for more travel to support the economy and jobs. Conditions apply. “He continued,” Certain performing arts professionals, television production staff, journalists and recently signed elite athletes are also exempted provided certain criteria are met. “
Shortly after the announcement, the Department of Transportation said that there would be an exemption for those involved in a specific business activity for high quality businesses that would bring significant benefits to the UK economy. This includes the activity that creates or sustains 50 or more jobs in the UK.
Individuals are only exempt if they are engaged in a specific business activity and are only allowed to meet during the specific activity.
The Department of Transportation also noted: “At the same time, exemptions for national and international performing arts professionals, television production staff, journalists and recently signed elite athletes are in effect to ensure that industries that need certain, highly talented individuals who rely on them are in effect international connections can continue their work. “
Further details of the exemptions will be posted on the government website as the exemptions become effective.
Previously, the government announced that people would have the option to take Covid-19 tests after 5 days of self-isolation and will be released if the results are negative. This will apply from December 15th and will apply to all passengers visiting the UK.
