Newsroom – Acknowledged for Loyalty Innovation, AAdvantage Program Wins the First Editors’ Alternative Award in 2020 The Factors Man Awards

FORT WORTH, Texas – Travel website and lifestyle media brand The Points Guy today selected American’s AAdvantage® loyalty program for its first Editors’ Choice Award in recognition of the customer-friendly initiatives the program announced earlier this year.

“We are humble and honored to be selected by the editors of The Points Guy for the first Editors’ Choice Award,” said Rick Elieson, president of the AAdvantage program. “AAdvantage values his relationship with our members, many of whom are TPG readers, and is committed to the best loyalty program in the industry.”

Last week American announced that AAdvantage members could purchase an award ticket through any American Airlines channel with no award service fee. If their travel plans change, Members will no longer pay a reinstatement fee to redeploy miles to their account when they cancel an Eligible Award Ticket. American also hit the pause button as the AAdvantage miles expired through June 30, 2021.

Looking to the next year, AAdvantage members have a head start in gaining elite status for 2021 with an additional three months of elite qualification. In addition, members who use AAdvantage credit cards have an additional path to earn status. Elite members now also enjoy the benefits they deserve, regardless of the type of ticket they buy.
