Scooby Doo Van Travels Round Hooking Up Youngsters with Free Books

This mystery machine may have a mystery book for your child and hopefully no real ghosts will come along.

Call Linda Pearson in San Antonio. She started a nonprofit organization to collect books and give them to children throughout her community. She calls it the San Antonio Scooby Van. She brings the mystery machine to schools across the region. The children get a book and a “Scooby Snack”.

Please tell me these are the Scooby Doo fruit snacks! This blue Scooby piece is one of the top five rubbers of all time. Linda has only been doing this for three months, but in such a short time. She has given away over 1,500 books to children and says she has another 1,500 ready to give away at future events.

Dr. Raul Hinojosa is director of the anniversary academy. He said during the pandemic the children didn’t get many visitors. “So such an opportunity is something very special for her,” said Raul. “And then, to have a book to take home and keep to yourself and write your name on it, they are very excited.”

Linda hopes to bring two more Scooby vans to the area so she can reach more children. If you would like to help Linda or would like more information on her great organization. You can check them out on their website for more. I hope she can make it our way one day. I would love to see the Scooby van and get a free book.
